4 steps to Brand your Business

Many small businesses now make coming up with a social media brand a key part of their overall marketing strategy. Here’s a quick look at 5 steps that will get you started on your social media branding strategy journey.

  • Step #1: brand identity

    Be as consistent as possible across all of the platforms that you use. In other words, your Twitter handle should match your Instagram handle. Your social media avatar image should be identical – or , look very similar across every  platform. Your use of descriptions, fonts and colors should also be similar across your social channels.

  • Step #2: About Social platforms

    Don’t just re-post the same content on Facebook as you’ve already posted on Twitter. For example, Twitter might be great for blasting out news, promotions and brief updates about your company, facebook is better served with personal engagement and you’d want to save your best visual content for Instagram.

  • Step #3: Create a content schedule and stick to it

    Many businesses start out in social media and post a few times, and then let everything fizzle out once the initial excitement wears off, they become too busy to engage or can’t justify the time. That’s why you need to create a content calendar and try to commit to a schedule of several social media posts per day,  2-3 tweets per day and 1-2 Facebook posts.

  • Step #4: Track your metrics

    You need to know who is following you, what they are engaging with, and how often they are responding to or commenting on your content. This will help you to fine-tune your content strategy and build a much more accurate picture of your target audience. Metrics are your insight into what is working not working and what needs to get done.

Social media has become a must to build and grow your brand. Choose a platform that you know your customer can be found in, get tools that can help you, and use data that you collect to improve your performance. Those steps will help you to create an, authentic brand identity.
